What our San Fernando team can review

Contact us about injuries from car, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, or bicycle collisions, as well as injuries involving unsafe property conditions. We also review serious-injury and wrongful-death inquiries.

For a first conversation, a short, accurate account is more useful than a complete file. Tell us who was involved, where the incident occurred, what injuries were reported, and whether an insurer or another attorney is already involved. We will explain what additional information is needed.

San Fernando city reports and surrounding Valley reports

The City of San Fernando Police Department and LAPD are separate agencies. Use the agency named on your incident paperwork to avoid sending a request to the wrong records office.

  • San Fernando Police report: The city's Copies of Reports page explains how people involved in a traffic accident can request a report in person or by mail. Contact its Records Bureau for current requirements.
  • LAPD report: Consult the Valley Traffic Division for LAPD traffic-investigation contacts and report resources.
  • CHP report: Follow CHP's own instructions if CHP prepared the collision report.

You do not need to wait for every record to arrive before asking our firm to review a potential case. Share the incident date, location, and report number, if available.

When a San Fernando collision report is missing or incomplete

Start with the investigating agency, not the mailing address or the name of the Valley neighborhood. The City of San Fernando Police Department has its own Records Bureau. LAPD handles different areas, and CHP may investigate a freeway collision. A request sent to the wrong agency can leave you waiting for a report it never prepared.

A practical request checklist

  1. Identify the record: Gather the incident date, approximate time, intersection or freeway location, and report number. Keep a copy of the exchange-of-information card. If a number or date is uncertain, label it as uncertain.
  2. Confirm the right process: San Fernando's official report instructions offer in-person and mail requests for involved traffic-accident participants. Its Records Bureau lists (818) 898-1279 and Records@sanfernando.gov. Confirm current identification, payment, mailing, and availability requirements before sending a request.
  3. Use CHP's separate options when applicable: The CHP request page provides an online crash portal and the CHP 190 form for an eligible party of interest. If eligibility is unclear, ask a CHP Area office. A law firm's inquiry form does not request the government report.
  4. Keep a request log: Record the agency, date submitted, request reference, response, and any promised follow-up. Preserve the original request and response instead of relying only on a telephone recollection.

Review what actually arrived

Check the incident date, report number, page numbering, referenced diagrams, and any mentioned attachments. A narrative that refers to photographs does not necessarily mean the photographs were supplied. Ask which records are available and how to request missing material. Do not assume an absent attachment never existed or that every investigative record is immediately releasable.

If you disagree with a statement, keep the report unchanged. Prepare a separate note identifying the exact passage, why you believe it is inaccurate, and the original document or recording that supports your concern. Ask the agency or your attorney about the appropriate correction or supplemental-information process. A requested correction is not an accepted correction.

While the report is pending, preserve photographs and recordings already lawfully available to you, towing documents, and insurer letters. Do not wait for a complete report before asking about a time-sensitive claim. Our San Fernando team can review the available materials and identify the missing questions without promising that an agency will release a particular record.

Local resource instructions checked October 5, 2026. Agency procedures and record availability can change.

What to bring to your first consultation

  • The date, location, and a brief timeline of the incident.
  • Photographs, original video files, and witness contact information you already have.
  • The report number, investigating agency, and any incident or exchange-of-information card.
  • Insurance correspondence, claim numbers, and contact details for the adjusters involved.
  • Available medical records, bills, and documentation of missed work or other expenses.

An incomplete file should not prevent you from contacting us. Explain what is missing, and we can discuss the next steps. Avoid sending sensitive records through social-media comments or public review pages.

Questions about our San Fernando office

What is the correct suite number for your San Fernando office?

Suite 301, at 601 S. Brand Boulevard, San Fernando, CA 91340. Use the Google Maps link on this page and call before traveling to arrange a consultation.

Can I speak with your team in Spanish?

Yes. Our firm welcomes inquiries in Spanish. Call (818) 900-1888 and tell our team your preferred language.

Do you serve only the City of San Fernando?

No. We welcome injury inquiries from nearby Valley communities and throughout California. Our San Fernando, Woodland Hills, and Victorville offices are part of the same firm.

Is the matter a fit for our firm?

For accident inquiries, our firm does not take vehicle-damage-only cases when no one was injured, and we do not represent the party responsible for causing the accident. If responsibility is disputed, describe the facts; an insurer's allegation alone is not a determination of fault. Our separate property-insurance and lemon-law practices have different intake criteria.

This page provides general information. A consultation request does not create an attorney-client relationship or guarantee that the firm will accept a matter. The facts and any applicable deadlines require individual review.
